Rebel Talk: Car Wash

Rebel Talk: Car Wash

Here in Minnesota, winter has a way of making you appreciate the little things. After weeks of brutal, sub-zero temperatures that make even a quick walk outside feel like an endurance challenge, we finally got a break. This weekend, the thermometer is creeping past 40 degrees, and to anyone who’s spent a Midwest winter, that might as well be a heatwave.

And what happens when the first decent day arrives? The masses rush to the car wash.

I get it. The past few weeks have left vehicles looking like they just came back from a salt mine. That white film of winter grime is baked onto every truck, car, and SUV. No one wants to be the one rolling around in a ride that looks like it’s been through a blizzard war zone. But here’s where it gets crazy—people will sit in line, 50 cars deep, burning up their entire Saturday just to spray the salt off. Hours wasted, engines idling, minds numbing as they creep forward at a glacial pace toward that pressure washer.

The Efficiency of Time

This isn’t about whether or not you should wash your car. Hell, I like keeping my truck clean too. There’s nothing like stepping into a spotless ride, knowing it’s taken care of. But here’s the bigger lesson—how you use your time matters.

We all get the same 24 hours in a day. The question is, are you spending yours wisely?

You could sit in line for two hours, watching the guy in front of you painstakingly scrub every inch of his Honda Civic like he’s detailing a show car… or you could plan ahead, go early, go late, or even better—find a self-service bay where you’re in and out in 10 minutes.

Or—dare I say it—wait until Monday when the rush is over. You don’t need to follow the crowd.

Life is the Same Way

This isn’t just about a car wash. It’s about how we treat every aspect of our lives.

How many times do people waste time waiting instead of creating?
How often do they follow the herd instead of thinking ahead?
How many let opportunities slip away because they were stuck in a figurative car wash line, waiting for someone else to tell them it’s their turn?

The truth is, success—whether in business, personal growth, or just making the most of your damn Saturday—is all about efficiency and intention. It’s about knowing when to grind, when to rest, and when to make moves while everyone else is standing still.

The Relentless Rebel Way

Being a Relentless Rebel means taking control of your time. It means refusing to live life on autopilot, wasting the moments you could be building, creating, or experiencing something meaningful.

Next time you see that line of cars wrapped around the block, ask yourself:

Am I just following the crowd?
Is there a smarter way to do this?
Am I using my time to move forward, or am I just filling space?

Because here’s the thing—life is short, and time is your most valuable resource. Don’t waste it sitting in line while the world moves forward. Find another way. Work smarter. Move faster. Think ahead.

Wash the truck. But don’t waste the day.

Stay Relentless,

Ryan
