Rebel Talk: Capitalize

Rebel Talk: Capitalize

Opportunities don’t always knock; sometimes, they whisper. Sometimes, they stand in front of you, bold and obvious, daring you to take the leap. But here’s the thing about opportunities—they’re fleeting. If you wait too long, if you hesitate for even a moment, you might find that the chance is gone, and all you’re left with is regret.

I learned this lesson the hard way. A while back, I stumbled upon a set of antique cannons at an estate sale. These weren’t just any cannons—they had character, history, and presence. They weren’t just things; they were a statement, a piece of something bigger. I remember thinking about how incredible they would look, how they could be a conversation starter, a centerpiece. But instead of jumping on the opportunity, I hesitated. “I’ll come back for them,” I told myself. “Let me think it over.”

You can probably guess what happened next. When I returned, the cannons were gone. Someone else had seized the moment I let slip through my fingers. I stood there, staring at the empty space where they had been, feeling the weight of hesitation. That moment still sits with me, not because I lost a set of cannons, but because I lost the opportunity they represented.

The lesson is simple but powerful: capitalize on the moment. Don’t wait for the stars to align perfectly or for your doubts to subside completely. Life rarely offers you the perfect conditions to act. The stars align when you make the move, not before.

I carry that experience with me everywhere now. When an opportunity arises, I don’t overthink it—I act. Whether it’s in business, personal growth, or even small everyday decisions, I refuse to let fear, doubt, or indecision hold me back. I’ve come to understand that waiting often costs more than action ever will.

Think about it. How many times have you let something slip by because you were waiting for the “right time”? Maybe it was pursuing a dream, starting a project, or telling someone how you feel. The right time isn’t later—it’s now. Those cannons were my wake-up call, and though I don’t have them, I gained something more valuable: the mindset to seize every opportunity before it’s gone.

I want you to think about the “cannons” in your life—the things you’ve hesitated on, the chances you’ve missed. And now, make the decision that you won’t let it happen again. Life is full of estate sales, full of opportunities just waiting for you to claim them. Don’t let someone else walk away with your chance.

The next time you see your version of those cannons, act. Don’t wait. Don’t overthink. Capitalize. Because when you do, you’ll walk away with no regrets, knowing that you seized the moment—and made it yours.

Stay Relentless,

Ryan
